Do I need to be South Asian to join Delta Phi Omega?Definitely not! While Delta Phi Omega is a South Asian interest organization, we welcome ladies of all ethnicities. At our chapter and establishments all around the nation, we have sisters that are of a variety of cultures and backgrounds. At Delta Phi Omega, we strive to create a sisterhood that is timeless, to aide each other towards personal and organizational success, to help out our local communities as much as we can, to enrich campus life for all with social events, and to create leadership opportunities for our members. RACE is not a factor of membership!
-
Why Delta Phi Omega? There are many reasons why you should consider becoming a part of this amazing sisterhood! We are a social and service-oriented sorority. We host a variety of social events, have mixers with various other Greek organizations and know how to have a good time! We are also extremely involved with community service. Each sister has a required amount of service hours to perform each semester. The ladies of DPO take pride in giving back to the community.
-
How do I join?Is there a minimum GPA requirement? We will be hosting several informational events this semester. We also have a recruitment period every semester for you to find out more about us and join! Follow us on Instagram and email our Recruitment Chair to find out more about our recruitment events! Yes. Delta Phi Omega requires that all potential members to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
-
Will joining Delta Phi Omega affect my academics?Yes, but only positively! Academia is first and foremost the priority in college and Delta Phi Omega makes sure a high standard of good grades is held. With mandatory study hours in place, each sister and every new member is required to spend adequate amounts of time studying. Our sorority also provides a huge network of active members and alumni who have gone through the same professors and classes, allowing you to frequently pass down helpful tips, advice, and study material to the younger members.
-
Is it expensive to join Delta Phi Omega? Not at all! While many sororities do have dues that exceed $1000, Delta Phi Omega's dues do not. Our dues are usually about $180 per semester. These dues cover the costs of national expenses, insurance and events. We rely heavily on fundraising to cover other expenses.
-
What is Delta Phi Omega's stance on hazing?Delta Phi Omega enforces a strict no-hazing policy.
-
What is the difference between traditional Panhellenic Sororities and Multicultural Sororities? The main difference is the focus on culture and diversity. As a multicultural organization, Delta Phi Omega believes in the celebration of different cultures--racial, ethnic, or religious. Another difference is the size of our organizations. Multicultural organizations tend to have smaller chapters/charters compared to Panhellenic organizations. Delta Phi Omega believes that sisterhood bonds are stronger and shared with everyone as a result of the size of the sisterhood. Our chapters/charters range from 5 – 45 members at any given time. Lastly, our dues are much less since, majorly speaking, multicultural organizations do not carry the financial burden of maintaining privately-owned sorority houses and other large expenses that come with large membership numbers.
